A Very Busy Week

It's ironic that I pretend that being busy is unusual for me, because looking back on my weekly reports really shows me that I'm always doing something. Although I will say, this week was super crazy considering I was only in school for two days! So with so much to cover, let's jump into this week's recap.

All About Me

Last Tuesday, I finally went into the orthopediatrics office to have my knee checked. To make a long story short, I didn't break it or get in an accident, but I just have really bad knees! Basically I'm alright, but I have to start going into physical therapy twice a week for two to three months, ice my knee twice a day, and do PT exercises everyday! It's a lot of maintenance, but hopefully, I can reduce some of the pain in my knees! Other than that, I finalized my common app topic, and began my draft, which I'll review with my therapist this coming Thursday.

Saturday was a super busy day for me; I took the SAT, went to a friend's birthday party, and dressed up and went to Garba all in the same day! Then, on Sunday, I went to a different friend's birthday dinner. There was a ton of socializing this weekend and next weekend is Homecoming, so I can expect more of the same. I'm super excited for the homecoming game (and the fact that grades for our marking period are finally finished this coming Friday).

ISM

Regarding class, we had a huge event recently: Business Symposium. As an ISM II student I was a part of running the program the whole day! I spent the first four and a half hours interviewing students (there was seven rounds!). In these interviews, I asked ISM I students a plethora of questions and utilized a given rubric to score their professionalism in numerous categories. Also during the interview, the interviewee provided their resume, which I got to markup and review with the student there. It was a lot of talking, but the 15-minute interviews not only helped my professional communication, but also strengthened my ability to provide constructive criticism!

The second four and a half hours of the day, I spent at the Digital Portfolio station where two ISM 2 students and I discussed the importance and practical uses of our Digital Portfolios, and showcased our websites. We discussed personal branding ranging from fonts and colors to tone and content to provide. We also combed through our LinkedIn accounts and talked about proper behavior and how to optimize the platform to the students benefit.

Overall, I really enjoyed Business Symposium and it was a very unique and beneficial leadership opportunity for me. This next week we will write an analysis of Business Symposium, and taking what I learned from the station I ran, I will give a presentation to my class on personal branding and about our digital portfolios.

Until next week,
